League Background

The South Burlington Mini Metro organization is run by volunteers each year. The Mini Metro league was created to provide more competitive play for Vermont youth basketball players between grades 3 and 8, focusing on team-based development. In South Burlington, each team typically practices 2-3 times per week at local gyms (typically elementary schools). The season typically runs from mid-October and ends before February school break. The per player cost* will be determined shortly and will cover the cost of team registration with the league, practice gym time, equipment, and uniforms. Coaches are volunteers and are not compensated for their time.

* Scholarships are available upon request.

Team Size & Playing Time

Given the competitive nature of the league and required commitment by players and coaches, this league is not designed for equal playing time. Player's minutes during games are typically determined based on practice performance, game strategy, and situational adjustments. We aim to have a roster between 9 and 11 players per team to help maximize playing time.

Mini Metro League Information
Mini Metro is run by the Vermont Cats Basketball Club. Games are played on Sunday at gyms throughout Vermont (typically between Barre and St. Albans). Since South Burlington doesn't provide gym space for games, each team is required to pay a registration fee of $800. This fee covers gyms and referees for games, scheduling, and league oversight.
Coaching
Coaches are volunteers. Teams typically require at least two coaches, with a weekly commitment of ~8 hours per coach. Please consider volunteering to coach, handling team communications on behalf of coaches, or helping out with league administration (registration, ordering uniforms, etc.). I can help!
